Instructions for students using this wiki

1. Create a Wikia account. Choose a username that is easily recognized based on your real name or initials (though it need not reveal your name obviously to the general public).
2. Set your preferences as follows: (a) under the main User Profile tab, choose the Monobook layout, (b) under the Editing tab, uncheck "Enable visual editor." This means that the appearance and editing interface will closely match those of Wikipedia. Knowledge of this syntax is therefore a transferable skill, and it has been proven at Wikipedia that you don't have to be a genius to get the hang of it.
3. Read through the cheatsheet for information about how basic features work: italics, bold, section headings, bullets and numbers, and indentation. (A deeper introduction to the syntax is available here.)
